I saw this video and was impressed at how simple it sounds. Is this wrong? Innaccurate in it’s portrayal of the facts?

I think a flat tax makes the most sense – OR – continue to have a TRULY progressive rate. Why not scale up for those that make 500k, a million, 5 million, 10 million and more annually?

How can the “top rate” be the same for Arod and Jullia roberts as it is for my lucky hard working friend who makes 400k?

As long as there’s someone ELSE getting taxed at a higher rate, I’ll bet most people would accepty an increase

Is it possible that there’s a political solution to fixing the woes of the United States, or is our country destined to become a cesspool of incivility and hostility, as we watch both the left and the right drive us to bankruptcy?

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written here, because I’ve grown so disgusted with politics that I don’t want to vote for anyone.

No matter who they are, on the left or the right, even if someone begins with the noblest of intentions, in the end, most politicians either cater to their own special interest groups, or they don’t get reelected.

I’ve come to realize that they’re going to spend their entire career trying to deliver the pork to their constituents, and they’ll sell their votes to the highest bidders.

The media has such a powerful microscope turned on everyone, that it’s in every politicians best interest to just go along for the ride, and not make waves.

Idealistic politicians that think they can change the world get chewed up and spit out, because in our current system there is simply no place for them to exist.

The other day I ran across an incredibly refreshing video, espousing a political philosophy that catered specifically neither to the left or to the right, but to everyone.

My first thought was total skepticism – this can’t possibly be for real – but as I watched the video, it all sounded very sensible in a “self policing” sort of way.

The only thing that wasn’t clear, was how our government might actually get to the level of transparency that Rick Raddatz discusses in the video, but I wan’t to know more. That’s why I’ve “joined the movement”, such as it is, and I’m looking forward to watching what comes next.

If you’ll watch this video, and get a quick look at the concepts of “Cap and Grade”, “Tri-ism”, and “Charitism”, I think you’ll agree that it sounds like a total win / win for everyone - except for those that are greedy and corrupt.

My son plays 5/6 grade football, and while he’s not one of the few team superstars, he does pretty well and I’m very proud of him.

Just like any team, there are always some standout kids, but unfortunately sometimes one or both of their parents have their heads completely up their backside, and the decisions they make screw the rest of the kids.

This weekend, they are playing to determine whether or not they will go to the championship. If they win, they go, and if not they don’t.

The team they are playing is a very tough one, but so are we, and it’s expected to be a close game with a long time “arch-rival”.

In the league they play in, a kicked extra point after touchdown is worth TWO points, whereas running or passing it in is only worth one.

They’ve worked hard all year to develop his kicking game, but over the last few weeks we’ve come to rely exclusively on one kid for kicking, who’s very good and rarely misses.

This kid is also a pretty talented athlete, and plays often on both offense and defense, 7and even on special teams. In short as one of the “superstars” the team relies on him heavily.

Friday night AFTER practice, after the coaches had this kid practicing his kicks for half the practice, the mother came up and told one of the coaches that her kid wasn’t going to be there on Saturday.

The reason? Because she and her husband are splitting up, and he is the one who’s really supportive of football, but this HER weekend with her son, and she’s not going to bring into the game.

WHAT? You couldn’t have said this earlier in the week? You actually sat there during practice and LET the coaches waste their time with your son practicing kicks, all the while knowing that he wasn’t going to be there?

How can you justify that behavior? How is that fair to my kid, or to the other 27 kids on the team?

I was told this story by one of the coaches at a gathering last night after practice, while watching them scramble and scribble through the lineups and plays trying to replace this key player in the lineups, and shuffling other kids positions around to cover at the very last minute.

I find it impossible to believe that it wouldn’t occur to her that perhaps someone else should be practicing kicking.

Did she find it FUNNY that she was going to screw all these coaches and kids, in her effort to piss off her soon to be ex husband?

Clearly this woman is just a vindictive man-hating bitch, and her husband is making the right decision dumping her, but I feel most sorry for her kid.

We’re leaving for the game now, and I’m SO mad that I had to write this. If we lose by an extra point or two, I might even send this to her!

*** update ***
The game ended in a 14-14 tie, and the winner was decided in a “Kansas” playoff, where each team gets four downs. from the opponents 5 yard line in an attempts to score. Our defense stopped them, then our offense scored, so we won.

I’m glad this woman didn’t cause the season to end for our boys but since the kid is only 11, so she’s got plenty of time left to screw with him and his father. Surely she can ruin plenty of things in the years to come…

Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012 you will have to pay a 3.8% tax on the sale?

That’s $3,800 on a $100,000 home, and on a $400k home, it’s $15,200. Wow!

To make it worse, the tax is on the full amount, once you’ve exceeded your allowed capital gains.

Never mind that you used AFTER TAX dollars to pay for your home, you’ll be getting the entire amount taxed again IN ADDITION to your capital gains. How is that fair? Hell, how is it even legal?

When did it happen? Surprise, It’s in the health care bill, but I’ll bet you didn’t know that did you? Can you believe they actually read that then voted to pass this? Yeah, me either – I’ll bet it’s something that was buried and they didn’t even read before voting it in!

Snopes helps clarify this issue very well –

So this is NOT entirely true –
THIS TAX WILL GO INTO EFFECT JAN 2013 (Part of HC Bill)
Under the new health care bill, all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax, after Jan 1, 2013.

So it’s not a sales tax, its a medicare tax, and only those “rich quartermillionaires” will be affected.

I think this is really going to screw a lot of retiring people who often downsize their homes, and catch them by surprise!

I hope you share this with every single person in your address book, because an election is coming in November.

This is not a matter of left or right, or Republican or Democrat, or liberal vs. conservative.

It’s a matter of right and wrong, and a matter of the corrupted representation we have in the government who are driving the United States into bankruptcy and potential extinction. They should all be ashamed…

I did not write this, it came to me by email, but I think it’s great, and hope you do too!

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE — By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits…. . The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power..

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

I think this is hilarious…

California

The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out, attacks his dog and then bites the Governor.

1. The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie “Bambi”. He then realizes the coyote is only doing what is natural and may have been traumatized as a pup.

2. He calls Animal Control which responds and captures the coyote. The State is billed $250 testing the coyote for diseases and $900 for relocating it.

3. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dog’s carcass and bills the State $250 for mandated disease testing and $100 for disposal.

4. The Governor goes to the hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for possible diseases and getting his bite wound bandaged.

5. The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is free of dangerous animals.

6. The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a “coyote awareness” program for residents of the area.

7. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.

8. The Governor’s security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. With a strong union behind him, the security agent is able to collect a state pension at 90% of his previous wage and is entitled to free health care for life

9. Additional cost to State of California:

– $75,000 to hire and train a new security agent with additional special training on the nature of coyotes.

– PETA protests the coyote’s relocation and files a $5 million suit against the State.

Arizona

The Governor of Arizona is jogging with her dog along a nature trail. A Coyote jumps out and attacks the dog.

1. The Governor shoots the coyote with her State-issued pistol saving her dog, and keeps on jogging. The Governor has spent 50˘ on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.

2. The buzzards eat the dead coyote.

3. All is well, and life goes on smoothly.

And that’s why California is broke.

No matter which side you come down on, you have to admit that this video is entertaining.

Someone went to a lot of time and effort to put it together, and I thought it was pretty funny.

Do I like the idea of paying $900 a month for my families health insurance? Actually, yes I do, since I researched it heavily and found the best coverage for the best price that meets our needs.

I’m not destitute, so therefore CAN afford to pay a higher deductible and have more affordable premiums. On the other hand, if we wanted to go to the doctor once a week for a $15 co pay, I’d be closer to $1900 a month here in Oregon!

I think we have the best health care system in the world, and while there needs to be cost containment controls put in place and a safety net for the poor, we did NOT need to take aways the choices that were within reach of 85% of the american public.

Yeah, think about that – If 15% have “no insurance” then 85% of the American people DO have insurance, and that not that bad. Maybe if they simply let insurance companies compete across state lines, the price would have come down, but we’ll never know. Too late now…

This is a great video, that is clearly done as an anti-establishment statement, and it’s oh so true.

It doesn’t matter what your party affiliation is, you have to be disgusted by what’s going on, don’t you?

I’m concerned for our county, and for my kids future, and the fact that there’s no way we can ever possibly hope to get out of debt.

If we keep going on this course, we’re going to end up with the government owning or controlling absolutely everything about our county and economy.

This week Chairmen Sander Levin and Max Baucus made a joint decision to proceed with a bill trying to push through another 190 Billion is spending, supposedly to extend unemployment benefits, (which I’m all for), but only 60 billion of that is going to that actual cause.

Where’s the rest going? Tax cuts (for property owners that don’t itemize on their tax forms – huh?!?) and the rest is spending on infrastructure.

Don’t you think this is a gamble given the continued political uncertainty in the Senate?

I’m fed up, and this video shows why…

I happen to be an e-smoker, so I watched this entire video, and the only thing worse than the fuzzy and awful video quality was the way the New York state senate seems to work!

There was not a singe legislator that voted against Bill S7324 so now they have removed the peoples right to buy or sell them anywhere in the state of New York. Nice. Please tell me if you believe there wasn’t big tobacco money behind this push to “save the children”!

Some of people speaking in the video do not even know what an electronic cigarette is, and NONE of them challenged whether what this one woman was claiming was true or untrue.

Literally no investigation of any sort was done, and instead of going after the kiosks, store or businesses that may have been violating the law by selling to minors, they have simply made them illegal.

And never mind the electric cigarette manufacturers STRONGLY claim that they are NOT “stop smoking” aids, and that they should not be sold to minors, they’ve just outlawed their sale instead.

Never mind that the womans claim of “… vaporise packets of an UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF NICOTINE” is pure fantasy. Every? time I buy nicotine cartridges or nicotine refill liquid I can select anywhere between 0mg to 30mg of nicotine.

Never mind that millions of people around the world are successfully replacing burning smoke into their lungs with these devices, and claiming to be happier for it.

HEY New York voters, you may not particularly care about them taking away someones right to buy an e-cig, but you might be interested sort of representation you have in your state. What’s going to be taken away next?

There’s nothing political about this, and it’s another treat that came to me via email that I had to share…

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning…. Uphill… Barefoot… BOTH ways… yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they’ve got it!

But now that I’m over the ripe old age of thirty, I can’t help but look around and notice the youth of today. You’ve got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don’t know how good you’ve got it!

Remember back when you actually had to “make” popcorn and “technology” meant Jiffy Pop, or trying to infuse some flavor by melting butter into a hot air popper?

When I was a kid we didn’t have the Internet either. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter – with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn’t care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3′s or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We’d play our favorite tape and “eject” it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that’s how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

We didn’t have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that’s it!

There weren’t any freakin’ cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn’t make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your “friends”. OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror… not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there’s TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn’t have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, the collection agent… you just didn’t know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn’t have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like ‘Space Invaders’ and ‘Asteroids’. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen… Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what’s the world coming to?!?!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I’m saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-finks!

And we didn’t have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

And our parents told us to stay outside and play… all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside… you were doing chores!

And car seats – oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were luckily, you got the “safety arm” across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling “shot gun” in the first place!

See! That’s exactly what I’m talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You’re spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn’t have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or any time before!

Standing around after baseball practice, we were talking about what the kids wanted to be when they grew up.

One of the kids, (his parents being very outspoken liberals, and even he seems happy to spout about “stupid Republicans”) said he wanted to be President some day, and his parents were both standing right there.

I asked the kid, ‘If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?’

He said, ‘I’d give food and shelter to all of the homeless people.’ and I could tell that Mom and Dad were pretty thrilled with that answer.

‘Wow… thats a pretty lofty goal, but you don’t have to wait
until you’re President to do that.

You guys could all come over to my house and clean up my yard, pull weeds, and mow the lawn, and do a bunck of stuff. Then I’ll pay you $20 each, and you can go to the grocery store where the homeless guys hang
out, and give them the money to use toward food and a place to live.”

The kid thought about it barely a split second, and asked, ‘Why don’t the homeless people come over and do the work, and you can just pay them the $20?’

I said, ‘that’s a pretty good question!’ and just looked at the parents to fill him in…

His parents no longer come in to the field to practice, and just drop him off in the parking lot.

I wonder why?

I know many of you will say, “this is impossible” but since Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is a time when Americans could actually join together to reform Congress – the entity that represents us. It’s not a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s a moral and ethical one, to keep out country strong.

I’d love to see a Senator introduce this bill in the US Senate and a Representative to introduce a similar one in the US House. These people would likely become American heroes – however – there are probably none with the guts to do so, even if they KNOW it would never pass.

Our system is corrupt – what can we do about it?
1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

2.. No Tenure / No Pension:
A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans..

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people..

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/10.

The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

Please share this with others!

President Barack Obama said recently in Turkey that - “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”

I found this very interesting, and frankly, somewhat surprising. First, I need to note that I am NOT religious, by anyone’s stretch of imagination, but I’m not an Atheist either.

I do understand the concept of “Separation of church and state” but that is REALLY supposed to mean that we do not FORCE religion down anyone’s throat. It does NOT mean, that we are anti religion, even though we do appear to be headed that way with the recent court decisions, and now this proclamation by our President, and it makes me a bit sad.

I’m sad because I think it’s clear that we ARE a nation founded on Judeo Christian values, and I see nothing wrong with President Obama standing up for those beliefs. Has he not noticed the US constitution, the bill of rights, or any of the Preambles for our state constitutions?

i’m pushing 50 years old soon, and again, while I’m not religious at all, I do understand where we (our country) came from…

Note the religious references in every single one below – Are they next on the hit list?

Sometime later this year, Taxpayers may receive an Economic Stimulus Payment.
Q. What is an Economic Stimulus payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen..

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn’t that stimulating the economy of China ?
A.. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:

If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China.

If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.

If you buy a computer, it will go to India.

If you buy fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.

If you buy a car, it will go to Japan or Korea.

If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.

If you pay your credit cards or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses, and be hidden offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

1 Spending it at yard sales, or
2 Going to ball games, or
3 Spending it on prostitutes, or
4 Beer
5 Tattoos

(These are the only American businesses still operating in the US. )

So, I’m going to go to a ball game and drink beer with a tattooed prostitute that I met at a yard sale.

My mother in law says that this article at the Washington post is saying that MY health insurance plan, which I pay for, for MY family (and have since 2002) is going to be called a “Cadillac Plan” and will somehow be taxed?

Can this possibly be true?

I’m REALLY trying to be objective here, but she claims that the Cadillac Plan Tax will be used to buy better quality public care, to sort of “equalize” the quality of care US Citizens will get. Huh? .

From the article,

Many proponents of taxing high-end employer-based coverage have singled out the titans of Wall Street finance and industry, whose insurance might pay for regular EKGs, CAT scans and weekend health retreats at tony spas.

and then it says that those types of plans are “rare” and points out that -

More common are the generous health benefits that many union workers receive –

I know tons of people that have plans where they pay simply pay a doctor copayment, and every little thing is covered, whereas I chose to buy a plan that would NOT cover all those doctor visits and stuff, and instead, chose to put my money into “major medical” type insurance, that will keep me from going broke.

I THOUGHT that was the smart thing to do, but now I’m wondering…

For my plan, for the first $5,000 for a calendar year, I’m pretty much completely out of pocket.

After that, I’m 80/20 for the next $5k in charges to me ($which is my share of another $30k in medical) . So, potentially, I could be out $10k in a year, and while that would be awful, it wouldn’t bankrupt me.

In a year, my maximum oop (Out of Pocket) is $10k, and so she thinks my plan might be considered a “Cadillac”?

On the one hand, I think that what’s “for good of the people” is sort of how a government should run, but on the OTHER hand, is this not America?

Is it somehow “not fair” that I buy my own insurance, and am happy with my plan?

I’ll have to read up more on this, but it makes me very uneasy. SURE everyone should get health care, but isn’t that already the case?

Are there really people being refused treatment here in the US now? No there’s not, and to do so would be illegal!

On the one hand, while I might agree that getting medical care should be a basic US Citizens “right”, on the other hand, I can’t believe that HAVING INSURANCE is a “right”, and certainly, taxing those of us with wisdom enough to buy decent insurance is a “wrong” in my opinion.

This letter is a thing of beauty (even if the language is a bit rough)..
You definitely feel the guy’s pain! An actual letter to the passport
office…

Dear sirs,

I’m in the process of renewing my passport, and still cannot believe this.
How is it that Radio Shack has my address and telephone number and knows
that I bought a cable t.v. from them back in 1987, and yet, the Federal
Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date.

For Christ sakes, do you guys do this by hand? My birth date you have on my
social security card, and it is on all the income tax forms I’ve filed for
the past 30 years. It is on my health insurance card, my driver’s license,
on the last eight damn passports I’ve had, on all those stupid customs
declaration forms I’ve had to fill out before being allowed off the plane
over the last 30 years, and all those insufferable census forms that are
done at election times.

Would somebody please take note, once and for all, that my mother’s name is
Maryanne, my father’s name is Robert and I’d be absolutely astounded if that
ever changed between now and when I die!!!!!!

I apologize, I’m really pissed off this morning. Between you an’ me, I’ve
had enough of this bullshit! You send the application to my house, then you
ask me for my friggin’ address.

What is going on? You have a gang of Neanderthal assholes workin’ there!
Look at my darn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? I don’t want to dig up
Yasser Arafat, for shit sakes. I just want to go and park my ass on a sandy
beach.

And would someone please tell me, why would you give a shit whether I plan
on visiting a farm in the next 15 days? If I ever got the urge to do
something weird to a chicken or a goat, believe you me, I’d sure as hell not
want to tell anyone!

Well, I have to go now, ’cause I have to go to the other end of the city and
get another friggin’ copy of my birth certificate, to the tune of $60. Would
it be so complicated to have all the services in the same spot to assist in
the issuance of a new passport the same day?? Nooooo, that’d be too dang
easy and maybe makes sense. You’d rather have us running all over the
friggin’ place like chickens with our heads cut off, then find some a-hole
to confirm that it’s really me on the dang picture – you know, the one where
we’re not allowed to smile?! (bureaucratic friggin’ morons) Hey, you know
why we can’t smile? We’re totally pissed off!

Signed
- An Irate Citizen.

P.S. Remember what I said above about the picture and getting someone to
confirm that it’s me? Well, my family has been in this country since 1776
…….I have served in the military for something over 30 years and have
had security clearances up the yingyang……..However, I have to get
someone’important’ to verify who I am – you know, someone like my doctor WHO
WAS BORN AND RAISED IN INDIA !

Sincerely,

You Sure In The Hell Should Know Who.

………………And we want them to run our health care?!?

The current controversy over President Obama’s planned back to school speech has been met with much hesitation and rightfully so. In the past only dictators and socialists have specifically addressed the youth of America. Many parents and even school officials have been outraged by the Presidents current plan.

In the original lesson plan for the speech, the children were to write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president.” Another assignment was to “discuss what the president want’s us to do.” Thankfully, however, the critics objected to these assignments and it has since changed to “Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.”

Either way many parents and teachers are not happy with this course of action. Some schools are even closing down for the day so as not to subject their students to the speech. Michelle Moore of St. Louis is thinking about keeping her children home from school on the 8th. “I have to sign permission slips for my kids to watch R-rated movies in school,” Moore said, explaining that she felt parents were being blindsided by the president’s address. “It was simply presented, ‘Hey, we’re going to do this, this is when it’s going to air and you’re going to show it to your kids.’”

I know that I as a parent, were my children of school age, would keep my children at home. I am outraged for the other parents who’s children are in school. Many parents feel that if they had been presented with what he plans to say, or notified and given a choice they might be more considerate. For now however, they have had no choice, they can either send their children to school to be subjected to a unknown speech directed at their children or keep them home.

The idea that this socialist is targeting the young and naiveté, with his speech is infuriating. By pulling in the celebrities to whom many children idolize is even more underhanded. By pulling Le Bron James, and Kelly Clarkson, it sends the message to the young and impressionable that they should listen to the president and follow him simply because these stars are speaking alongside him. Some might say that, that is a jump, but we all know how much children listen to, and learn from their idols.

Bottom line is, this should have been talked about and agreed upon before having it thrust upon the children. Children deserve the right to be young and innocent not tainted by the ever toxic political world. At the time of this article, Foxnews.com held a poll, asking whether parents were going to keep their kids away from the speech, results were out of almost 63,000 votes 87% (almost 55,000) votes said they were in fact going to keep their children away from the speech. A little over 6,000 said they were going to allow their children to watch the speech.

In light of this someone higher up should listen, trying to get to the parents through their children will cause you loss of support. Think before doing something this outrageous again.

Troops, Are you ready? No Smoking Please.

The pentagon is currently reviewing a study that is recommending banning the use of tobacco by military personnel. My question in what are they thinking? Yes the outward costs of medical care and so on for the soldiers is quite large. However, they already sacrifice enough for our freedoms, why take away one of the few relaxing pleasures that can get while in battle.

According to their study around 32 percent of our armed forces use tobacco, while only 20 percent on the US adult population smokes. I think those numbers are completely understandable and honestly I am surprised that the number of Military smokers is not higher. After all the stress and fatigue that endure so that we may enjoy our lifestyles.

I think the government is wrong by trying to force these ideals on to our soldiers. They already give up so much. There are things that are legal for citizens to do, that are not allowed to do. And we want to enforce more on them?

I am a tobacco user myself, I want to quit, and someday I will however it will be at my decision. Because I am a U.S. citizen, I have rights. Just because someone higher up thinks that I shouldn’t smoke does not give them the right to tell me I can’t smoke, or at least not yet. In Oregon, they’re even trying to make the new electronic cigarettes illegal and keep people from using them!

Our men and women in the armed forces see things, do things and endure terrible, horrible things. Things that haunt them for years afterward.

hey see and do these things so that we, us American citizens don’t have to. I know a great many service men and women. I’ve heard the stories of how when the fighting was thick, where there never seemed to be an end, and when there would be no sleep for days. A cigarette would bring them enough of a calm to get through it all and continue on.

Think about your average everyday life, and multiply it by a hundred. We as American citizens have no idea of how easy our lives our. Our soldiers know how hard life can be, when in combat they deal with it on an everyday basis. So why do we want to take away something that brings them some calm?

Think about it this way, sadly some of our soldiers are wound so tightly that the slightest things could sent them off. I can guarantee you that the ones I am referring to smoke cigarettes, do you really, really want to take away something that keeps them from going over the edge.

We are in a state of war people, it’s not pretty, It’s not easy, and I am sadly not someone over there fighting. I may not be able to fight with them over there, but I can certainly fight for them over here. They give up enough, their family, time spent watching their children grow, some even give up their lives. Let’s not take away more from them.

The smokers state side are already feeling the burn, and the isolation of our habit. Lets not hurt those who’s morale and safety depend on it. Leave us smokers alone.

This came today via email from democrats.org and I’m posting it here completely unedited – I’m sort of stunned – what do you think?

In the last few months, we’ve made more progress on health insurance reform than we made in the previous 60 years. You can tell from the reaction of reform opponents that we’re doing something right.

Special interests who profit from the status quo are spreading brazen lies that stir up anger, and Republican leaders are chiming in with over-the-top rhetoric that detracts from the public debate. Just last week, Rush Limbaugh insinuated that President Obama was comparable to Adolf Hitler.

It’s a perfect example of “the old politics of fear and division” that President Obama talked about during his campaign. But there is too much at stake, too many Americans facing rising health care costs and shrinking paychecks, for us to let the politics of yesterday prevail.

The last thing opponents of reform want is a positive, civil debate. They know they’ll lose on the merits, so they’re turning to lies and division. It’s up to us to expose each distortion for what it is: a lie, plain and simple. If we do that, we’ll better our politics — and bring badly-needed reform.

Monday, the White House launched a new online resource that could help — a “Reality Check” site to help Americans clear up health care lies and misinformation. Visit the site today — and then send it to your friends so that everyone you know learns the truth.

Whether it’s a parent wondering how reform will affect seniors, an old friend confused about a lie they’ve heard, or just a concerned co-worker, we all know someone with questions about reform. The “Reality Check” site answers those questions and sets the record straight on lies that have been circulating.

But it’s up to each of you to make sure they see it — so make sure to send it their way today.

With news of disruptions at some town halls, it’s easy to forget the progress we’ve made. But because of your continued commitment, the tide is turning. Supporters of reform now outnumber opponents at many town halls. And when we win the fight for health insurance reform, it will be not only a momentous accomplishment, but a sign that it’s possible to defeat the angry politics of the past.

There are too many folks in Washington who are willing to lie for partisan gain, or engage in hateful rhetoric to score political points, for reform to come easily. We all need to step up — and it starts with you passing along “Reality Check” today:

http://democrats.org/RealityCheck

We face too many challenges together — we can’t afford to continue the slash and burn politics of yesterday. Please stand with me and fight for the truth.

Thank you,

Governor Tim Kaine
Chairman

PETA’s UnHappy Campaign

PETA, has launched another one of their over the top, crazy and demented campaigns. This one is aimed at the children of the world who love their happy meals. Their newest shenanigan consists of handing out bloody happy meals, to the unsuspecting kids.

These so called Unhappy Meals, consist of a knife wielding psychotic Ronald McDonald, with a bloody rubber chicken. That’s just the Unhappy Meal, that doesn’t include the grotesque display of a demented chicken slitting a prone Ronald McDonalds throat.

“McDonald’s markets its food to children by packaging it in brightly colored boxes with toys. But most kids really love animals, and if they knew that McDonald’s suppliers were breaking the wings and legs of gentle animals like chickens, I think that you’d have to drag kids into McDonald’s kicking and screaming.” Says Lindsay Rajt, a spokeswoman for PETA.

To be quite honest I think those children who have seen the PETA campaign have been traumatized for an entirely different reason. If I were to see a giant chicken aiming a knife at the throat of a man, I’d be just a little off kilter myself, and I have the reasoning and desensitization of a fully grown adult.

These ads are aimed at small children who have no idea or reasoning of the food that they consume. To them those golden arches represent a favorite past time of toys, a safe place to play, and good tasting food. For PETA to destroy that imagery in such a disturbing fashion, only sparks flames of sensory instead of questioning animal cruelty.

Their often over the top method of getting the message out there puts most people at ends with their main goal. No I myself don’t believe in animal cruelty, in its true sense of the word. I don’t like people who beat their animals just because they’re angry or having a bad day. I don’t like the hunters that kill for pure sport. I do however enjoy my meats.

I am southern born, and southern bred. I myself have gone hunting and killed animals. But I’ve also lived by the rules of the land. You only kill what you will eat, and waste none. PETA’s blatant disregard for the naivety of the children is disrespectful. I almost hope to come across one of their displays, I’d go inside order me a 50 piece nugget meal, and eat the whole tub where they could see me. In fact I think I’d like some now.

Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Infantry.

If you’ve seen Band of Brothers on HBO or the History Channel, you know Shifty. His character appears in all 10 episodes, and Shifty himself is interviewed in several of them.

I met Shifty in the Philadelphia airport several years ago. I didn’t know who he was at the time.

I just saw an elderly gentleman having trouble reading his ticket. I offered to help, assured him that he was at the right gate, and noticed the “Screaming Eagle”, the symbol of the 101st Airborne, on his hat.

Making conversation, I asked him if he’d been in the 101st Airborne or if his son was serving. He said quietly that he had been in the 101st. I thanked him for his service, then asked him when he served, and how many jumps he made.

Quietly and humbly, he said “Well, I guess I signed up in 1941 or so, and was in until sometime in 1945 . . . ” at which point my heart skipped.

At that point, again, very humbly, he said “I made the 5 training jumps at Toccoa, and then jumped into Normandy . . . . do you know where Normandy is?” At this point my heart stopped.

I told him yes, I know exactly where Normandy was, and I know what D-Day was. At that point he said “I also made a second jump into Holland , into Arnhem .” I was standing with a genuine war hero . . . . and then I realized that it was June, just after the anniversary of D-Day.

I asked Shifty if he was on his way back from France , and he said “Yes. And it’s real sad because these days so few of the guys are left, and those that are, lots of them can’t make the trip.” My heart was in my throat and I didn’t know what to say.

I helped Shifty get onto the plane and then realized he was back in Coach, while I was in First Class. I sent the flight attendant back to get him and said that I wanted to switch seats. When Shifty came forward, I got up out of the seat and told him I wanted him to have it, that I’d take his in coach.

He said “No, son, you enjoy that seat. Just knowing that there are still some who remember what we did and still care is enough to make an old man very happy.” His eyes were filling up as he said it. And mine are brimming up now as I write this.

Shifty died on June 17 after fighting cancer.

There was no parade.

No big event in Staples Center .

No wall to wall back to back 24×7 news coverage.

No weeping fans on television.

And that’s not right.

Let’s give Shifty his own Memorial Service, online, in our own quiet way. Please forward this email to everyone you know. Especially to the veterans.

Rest in peace, Shifty

In the course of a life that began in a housing project in the South Bronx and brought her to the pinnacle of her profession, Judge Sonia Sotomayor accumulated more experience on the federal bench than any incoming Supreme Court Justice in the past 100 years, touching nearly every aspect of our legal system.

This week the President recaps a busy week, from strides on fiscal discipline, to financial stability, to cracking down on tax havens and tax breaks for shifting jobs overseas.

For his next big step, he calls for a credit card reform bill: “Americans know that they have a responsibility to live within their means and pay what they owe.

But they also have a right to not get ripped off by the sudden rate hikes, unfair penalties, and hidden fees that have become all-too common in our credit card industry.” Watch Your Weekly Address to find out what he plans to do about it.

Another email I just had to share… This one came from my mother in law, who is quite inflexible in her beliefs. Still, it’s pretty funny.

>>> begin>>>

In Honor of the 44th President of the United States, Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has issued a new flavor, “Barocky Road.”

Barocky Road is a blend of half Vanilla, half Chocolate, and surrounded by Nuts and Flakes.

The Vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient.

The Nuts and Flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow.

The Cost is $100.00 per scoop.

When purchased, it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but then the Ice Cream is taken away and given to the person in
line behind you.

Thus you are left with an empty wallet, no change, holding an empty cone, with no hope of getting any Ice Cream.

Aren’t you feeling stimulated?

>> end>>>

You know, like all good satire, this one has a ring of truth to it too. I’m not interested in giving my ice cream to the guy behind me, especially when he doesn’t deserve it.

I was in line at the grocery store the other day watching someone in front of my buying all sorts of crappy junk food along with a wrapped package from the seafood department that cost $66.

I’m not sure what it was, but it wasn’t very big, so only a meal’s worth. Probably lobster or shrimp, or some of their $13 a pound halibut that I’d just been drooling over, but didn’t buy.

When he pulled out the state food stamp card I wanted to punch him right in the head.

The following seemed like a good idea when I first read it, after it came across in my email, like such a simple solution!

This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on “How Would You Fix the
Economy?” I thought this was the BEST idea. I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President,

Patriotic retirement:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force; pay them $1 million apiece severance with
three stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings – Unemployment fixed.

2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars
ordered – Auto Industry fixed.

3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage – Housing Crisis fixed.

All National financial problems fixed.

But then I did the math, and 40 million people times a million dollars comes to 40 trillion dollars! Jeez, wake up people!

I’m far from ‘rich” yet by the time I add up all my state, local and federal taxes paid, I’m OVER 50%! That’s absolutely insane, and it’s no wonder there are so many people trying to defraud the tax system. there’s “fair”, and there’s “unfair” and it’s time to raise the bar on what we consider to be “rich”.

The TOP tax bracket should NOT be such a low amount, (high 300k under bush, lowering again with Obama) but instead should continue to another level at 500k, then 2 million, then 5 million, and maybe even higher.

How can we justify setting it so low? look at the MAXIMUMS for a married couple filing jointly over the past 8 years -

What the HELL is Obama accomplishing by intending to go back to the pre-Bush rates? How can this possibly help (or motivate) anyone to be successful?

Lawrence Livermore Laboratory has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from four days to four years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years; It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.
