Spreading the Wealth Really Does Feel Good

Posted on October 30th, 2008 in Economy, Election 2008 by Mr. Koolaid

Yesterday morning I had breakfast at a small diner, and the waitress was wearing a big round Obama pin the size of a plate, which I thought was kind of odd. Why risk alienating some of your clientele? But I digress.

Anyway, when it came time to leave, our check was almost $14, so I left her just two dollars as a tip, and a note that said I was giving her other dollar to the homeless guy outside with the dog and the shopping cart full of cans.

I have to admit I felt pretty good giving this guy a dollar. He clearly needed it worse than she did, and he was very appreciative.

In the past I would have tipped 20% and likely not have given the homeless guy anything, but since the dollar came out of her pocket and not mine,  I think I understand it all much more clearly now, and I’m starting to look forward to an Obama presidency.

Obama Had Defined Rich as 250k - but now 200k? 150k?

Posted on October 29th, 2008 in Election 2008 by Mr. Koolaid

I sat on my couch and argued with a friend not 6 weeks ago whether an annual income of 250k should qualify someone as “the rich” like Senator Obama was saying on TV.

Now less than a week before the election, I’m watching his infomercial and his tax plan had suddenly shifted to define the rich as only $200,000 a year income.

Wow, that’s  a 20% decrease in jusrt a few short weeks. Is that because he’s realized that unless he raises taxes on those people making from $200k - $250k is suddenly needed for some reason? Does he think we won’t NOTICE the different stance?

Even more amazing, yesterday, VP candidate Joe Biden told a Scranton, Pa., TV station yesterday that Obama’s tax break “should go to middle class people – people making under $150,000 a year. (according to Democracy Forum)

I find this shift in position amazing - not that it shifted, because I think everyone KNEW he’d be raising taxes more than he claimed, but that he’s chosen to verbalize it now, and with no explanation.

Mark my words, if McCain wins, it will be partially because of this radical (and needless) redefinition of what makes someone “rich”.

Why didn’t he just lie to us and raise taxes anyway like every other candidate does? My theory is that he’salready thinking about re-election in 2012, and doesn’t want to have the “read my lips - no new taxes” achilles heel, so by changing his position now, he can say he broke no promises.

Fair Layoffs at JOOA Corp

Posted on October 29th, 2008 in Economy, Humor by Mr. Koolaid

Someone sent me this by email and I think it’s hilarious. I suppose that Jooa Corp. is likely a union shop, so laying off people according to low productivity or least value to the company isn’t an option.

Dear Fellow Business Owners:

As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, will be our next President, and that my Taxes and Fees, will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure, that the Customer, will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about, 8%. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees.

This really bothered me as I believe we are family, here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did.

I strolled thru the parking lot and found, 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employees cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

I can’t think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know. I am sending this letter to all Business owners that I know.

Sincerely,
Ward
JOOA Corp.

I need some more good stuff to post from the left, but since nobody’s sent me any, I’ll have to put this up…

President Obama’s New Office Policies

Posted on October 24th, 2008 in Election 2008, Our Society, Politics by Mr. Koolaid

A really conservative friend sent me this, and no matter how anti-Republican you are, you’ve got to admit it has a pretty funny ring of truth to it…

Notice to All Employees

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama is officially elected into office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

  1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are underachieving a “fair shake.”
  2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help those who are “too busy for overtime” to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.
  3. All top management will now be referred to as “the government.” We will not participate in this “pooling” experience because the law doesn’t apply to us.
  4. The “government” will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging it’s workers to continue to work hard “for the good of all.”
  5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it’s “good to spread the wealth.” Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more “patriotic.”
  6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don’t feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he’ll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can’t pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts  (shouldn’t all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?) !!!

If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to rethink your vote on November 4th.

Obama Is Not a US Citizen?

Posted on October 23rd, 2008 in Election 2008, Immigration, Politics by Mr. Koolaid

Maybe this is all crap, and maybe not, however, Senator Obama should shut everyone up by producing his birth certificate. WHY won’t he just remove all doubt and cough it up?

I first posted about this a few weeks ago, and with the resentment most Americans are feeling right now towards the Bush administration, and the press on his side, teachers and school kids on his side, and even many lot of Republicans on his side, the fact is that Senator Obama should win this election by a landslide.

Here’s the short version…

His failure to crush this issue where it sits could end up costing Democrats this election. don’t you think he owes it to the American public to shut it down?

The guy bringing this lawsuit claims he’s a lifelong Democrat, and I’m not sure he’s being truthful, but the point is, that this issue needs to go away, and only Senator Obama can make that happen. This is just plain ridiculous.

Compare Candidates Backgrounds & History

Posted on October 23rd, 2008 in Election 2008, Race by Mr. Koolaid

A hard core liberal friend sent me this, and it really makes me think…

What if things were switched around? Think about it. Would the  country’s collective point of view be different? Could racism be the  culprit???? this most certainly must be a rhetorical question!]

What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, following the debate, including a three month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?

What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?

What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his college graduating class?

What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?

What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?

What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?

What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?
(The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)

What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter?

What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?

What if Obama was the one who was known to publicly display a serious anger management problem?

What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?

You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected a reality, if the tables were turned, do you really believe the election  numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative characteristics in another when there is a color difference.

And, think of this - the candidates’ educational backgrounds:

Barack Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

Joseph Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.

Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

John McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899

Sarah Palin: Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism

Education isn’t everything, but this is about the two highest
offices in the land as well as our standing in the world.

You make the call.

What Really Caused This Economic Crisis?

Posted on October 22nd, 2008 in Politics by Mr. Koolaid

This video has been removed twice from YouTube, but people keep putting it back.

Over 1.6 million people have already seen it, but that’s not enough, and the election looks like it’s pretty much over, with McCain going to get smoked pretty badly.

If I knew a way to archive it, I’d put it here permanently, because I think our country is headed into the toilet at full speed ahead.

Let me be clear - It’s NOT just the Democrats or even the Republicans that are at fault, it’s all of the corrupt politicians on both sides, that actively pushed these policies, and the ones that passively stood by and allowed this to happen are just as guilty.

People on both sides of the aisle should be going to prison over this, but you know Goddamn well they wont. We the American people are the ones that pay…

Good Policies - Wrong Candidate

Posted on October 15th, 2008 in Politics by Mr. Koolaid

This is a shameful example of why many people are going to vote the way they will.

Is it hard to believe that people can really be this stupid? Not to me, but then I spent a long time in the retail management field dealing with the public…

Uncommitted Voters Are Idiots

Posted on October 8th, 2008 in Politics by Mr. Koolaid

What a hillarious (yet true) blog post this is, but I have to admit that even I am still on the fence and could be swayed either ways with the right sort of lies told to me by a candidate that actually seemed to “get it”.

For cryin’ out loud, the debate last night was horrendous. What a bunch of pre-packaged bullshit. These guys should have to anwer real questions, and multiple depates from moderators on both sides of the political fence should be manadatory. Do either one of them have a flippin’ clue at ALL about how fed up we all are? do they even care? Isn’t there any passion or anger on either one of their parts?

I’d never recommend not voting, but how can we really all be asked to put our faith in either of these two guys, who don’t even seem to understand simple principles of marketing?

I’m SO disgusted.

See this? -  It’s the trend since the spring of people located in the United States that have been searching for the phrase “moving to another country” - Wow, that’s an eye opener, isn’t it?  (source - Google Insights)
